A status is not the same as your activity
Discord shows two different things under your name. The activity line is generated automatically from what you are playing, listening to, or streaming, and a custom status replaces it visually while that activity is idle. If your status keeps disappearing, a game or Spotify session is overwriting it — turn off activity display in Settings under Activity Privacy if you want the status to stay put.
Use the expiry timer instead of remembering to change it
Discord can clear a custom status after 30 minutes, an hour, four hours, today, or never. A status that is funny on Friday reads strange three weeks later, and most stale statuses are simply ones nobody remembered to remove. Setting a timer when you paste it is faster than cleaning it up afterwards.
